How chiropractic treatment works at our Monument clinic
Chiropractic is a hands-on, drug-free approach to problems with the spine, joints, muscles and nerves. At Monument, treatment is planned in three stages.
1. Find the cause. Pain is often felt away from where it starts. A stiff upper back can drive neck pain and headaches, and a restricted pelvis can irritate the sciatic nerve. Your chiropractor tests how you move before deciding what to treat.
2. Calm things down. Early treatment eases pain and restores movement with spinal adjustments and joint mobilisation, soft tissue work and trigger point therapy, and dry needling where it suits you.
3. Keep it from coming back. As symptoms settle, the focus shifts to stretches, strengthening and changes to how you sit, lift and train, so you need fewer visits over time.
What to expect from your first visits
Initial assessment: 60 minutes, £95. We take a detailed history and carry out postural, orthopaedic and neurological tests, so any reason why chiropractic would not suit you is ruled out before treatment begins.
Report of Findings. On your second visit we explain your diagnosis and the likely timescale for recovery, and agree a treatment plan with you. You will know what each visit is for and how we will measure progress.
Follow-up treatment: 15 minutes, £65. Short follow-ups make it realistic to keep up with care during a busy week. Full details are on our pricing page.

Common problems we treat for City workers
- Back pain: from sudden locked backs to stiffness that builds through the week.
- Neck pain and headaches: linked to screen work and shoulder tension.
- Sciatica: leg pain that travels from the lower back.
- Trapped nerves: in the neck or shoulder.
- Disc problems: managed with careful, graded treatment.
- Sports injuries: from running, cycling and the gym.

Hours at a laptop, client dinners and heavy bags on the commute all put strain on the body. Physiotherapy and massage are available at our Canary Wharf clinic.

Chiropractic at Monument: frequently asked questions
Can I get a same-day chiropractic appointment in the City?
We keep appointment slots for same-day care at Monument wherever possible. Book online or call 020 7531 4444 to check today’s availability.
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
Most people find adjustments comfortable. You may hear a click or pop, which is gas being released from the joint and not bones moving (why joints crack). Some people feel mild stiffness for a day afterwards, much like after exercise.
How many treatments will I need?
It depends on the problem and how long you have had it. Your chiropractor will give you an expected timescale at your Report of Findings and review progress as you go, rather than booking you into a long course up front.
Do I need a GP referral?
No, you can book directly. Some insurers ask for a GP referral before they will pay, so check your policy if you are claiming.
Should I see a chiropractor or a physiotherapist?
Both treat back and neck problems. Chiropractic focuses on hands-on treatment of the spine and joints, and physiotherapy on exercise-based rehabilitation. Our guide to chiropractic vs physiotherapy explains the difference. Physiotherapy is available at our Canary Wharf clinic.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. Office wear is fine for most treatments, but loose trousers make it easier to assess your lower back and hips.
